I clicked on this because the title resonated deeply. I've come to realize, particularly in the last 3-4 years after I woke up to the mass deceptions, that there is indeed a war on creative individuality. Here in San Francisco, the funded art around me has come to represent almost one thing only: the expression of woke talking points (aka the paid creation of propaganda). As a brown (or rather Beige; one of my artist alter egos has that colour in her name) artist, I don't actually have enough oppression points to be considered worthy of funding and especially not since I expressed my concerns about the so-called pandemic publicly in 2020, which basically got me cancelled by most of my peers and arts non-profits, people that used to think highly of my work.
I particularly appreciated comments from both of you towards the end on the purpose of art. Akira is right, what we're being told is "the world" is in fact theatre. As an artist myself, I have always said that "everyone is an artist" and yes, it is our role to "nurture the soul of society" and create beauty. Beauty is the antidote to this ugly world the elitists are trying to push on us.
