Art, Awe, and Authoritarianism.

In many ways, this exciting discussion encapsulates why I started this podcast, living at the nexus of Art, Culture, and Society; it also serves as an example of the perils of ignoring Art and Artists in our ever-escalating "Culture Wars", as many have seen fit to do--unless they are complaining about how bad our Art has gotten.

A Cuban-American whose mother experienced the ravages of Communism firsthand, the fiery and vivacious Salomé Sibonex deeply understands the corrosive effect of the authoritarian impulse on creative expression.

She is a writer and artist known for her distinct style of truth-telling, melding philosophy and psychology to diagnose modern issues. She's written for Areo Magazine, writes the cult-favorite newsletter "Weird & Güd", and examines film as modern mythology on her podcast, The Silver Eye Society, and you can find her on Twitter and Instagram via @SalomeSibonex.
